Copenhagen · Denmark
Copenhagen rewards the curious. Beyond the harbour views and the design-classic silhouettes is a city built by independent makers — goldsmiths at the bench, potters at the wheel, a candy kitchen that has been boiling sugar by hand since 1891, shops with one location and an owner behind the counter.
Uniquely is a slow, edited guide to those places: jewellers, ceramicists, design and interiors shops, booksellers, florists, coffee roasters and sweet makers, all of them independent and almost all of them making the work in the room behind the shop.
The guide grows slowly, a few places at a time. More categories — galleries, bakeries, record shops — are on the way.
